January is here, the month that majority of Kenyans seem to forget still exists in December as they enjoy the holidays. The month that sees most of us are broke from the spending craze in December. Well if you are working in Sales/Business Development, the first quarter of 2018 is not a good time to look for new opportunities in the market.

Intermediate salaries for Sales/Business Development employees is expected to drop by 14.97% over the 6 months leading to March 2018 to Ksh 128,735. This is a turn from the spike in median salary that Sales/Business development professionals witnessed in August 2017.

Between January 2017 and August 2017 there were a higher number of jobs created in the marketplace than the number of applicants, giving job seekers a higher bargaining chip in salary offerings. Looking at the drop in salaries expected in March 2018, it seems that there are more individuals applying for jobs in Sales/Business development.
