Since August 2017, majority of businesses have experienced losses while others have sought to cut down the number of employees in a bid to reduce the impact of the unstable economy. Due to these factors, jobs creation has been a somewhat nightmare. Individuals looking for jobs even at entry level positions have had it extremely rough.
Data Fintech’s Career Coach report analyses two different job categories in Kenya in August 2017, Administration/Office Support and Security. During the period under review the median salary for entry level positions stood at Ksh 20,358. This figure rose by less than one percent (0.53%) as compared to the previous month. The numbers of Administration/Office Support jobs took a large dip in August 2017 falling by nearly 30%, as compared to July 2017.
In the same period, candidates that applied for Security Entry level position faced extremely high competition pressure which forced the median salary to drop by 50% to Ksh 15,000.
For candidates looking for what jobs to apply to, look for Administrative/Office support jobs as they offer better entry level salaries and have less competition.
The study has been realized by Data Fintech, based on data collected from various online Job market platforms.
